    You used pre taxed money in the Traditional IRA? So, you have to pay tax on the amount you converted?

    • @TheCreditFrog
      @TheCreditFrog 16 хвилин тому

      You do a non-deductible contribution and if you do this using this backdoor Roth IRA method, you won’t have to pay taxes on the Roth conversion.

  • @TheRDGuarantee
    @TheRDGuarantee 55 хвилин тому

    Any idea why the cards are like that? Sure, the spending categories are terrible when you’re not spending outside the airlines as well, but I’m a little surprised airline cards don’t make their reward multipliers better when you spend at their own airline.

    • @TheCreditFrog
      @TheCreditFrog 38 хвилин тому

      It’s definitely a good question! I’m not really sure because it should. It really makes those cards a lot better for airline benefits. The higher tier airline cards tend to have higher multipliers but yeah, it’s weird that the multipliers are so bad on airline credit cards!

    Chase, Citi, and Wells Fargo definitely have the best card setups! Wells and Citi are definitely competing well with Chase. Chase definitely lacks gas stations as a category on the CSP. Chase should add gas as a 3% category to the CSP and maybe as.a 4% category on the CSR to compete better with Citi, Wells Fargo. The CSP and CSR should also have gas stations at an elevated rate because nearly all hotel cards have gas as an elevated category. Wells just needs to add better transfer partners. Citi just about has things right.

    • @TheCreditFrog
      @TheCreditFrog 8 годин тому

      Yeah, each one of these ecosystems have their pros and cons, but it's nice to see the competition! As each issuer fine-tunes their cards (except Chase it seems, haha), hopefully consumers will go to the better card, forcing the others to innovate! I agree, Chase needs a gas category at the very least since WF has one. Only Citi has that elusive grocery category!

    For me multipliers are nice but benefits are better. FHR on a recent Waldorf stay, combined with Hilton Gold, saved us $790. At $.02/pt, which most aren’t getting, that’s almost 40k points. Then we got the additional $200 for prepaying. Multipliers are like hitting singles. The right benefits are like smacking home runs.

    • @TheCreditFrog
      @TheCreditFrog 12 годин тому

      Yeah, benefits on these premium cards can really make a huge difference if you can stack value on top of value on top of value! If you find the right FHR booking, it can really elevate your stay!

    Currently rocking the C1 duo. It all might depend on everyone's spend, but my usual monthly spend is almost exclusively covered by The Savor One. In my use case, Chase would not be effective for the multipliers, so I decided to not care for the 5/24 rule and am now aiming to acquire the WF trifecta. The Autograph hits so many categories and with the new Attune card (when paired with the Autograph) might just out do the C1 duo for my typical spend

    • @TheCreditFrog
      @TheCreditFrog 20 годин тому

      That’s an interesting situation to be in! Thats awesome that you found the setup that works for you and that Chase 5/24 no longer matters compared to completing your WF setup! Having both the C1 duo and the WF cards is going to be very powerful and with the C1S1 you have groceries covered which is the one missing category on WF cards.

    The direct answer to the questions are as follows: 1. Best Multipliers Wells Fargo 2. Citi Strata Premier is better than Chase Sapphire Preferred. The problem is that these are the wrong questions. The right question is this. Which Card issuer is the easiest to earn and redeem points for the highest return on spend for travel your travel needs. The answer is Chase because you can easily earn hundreds of thousands of points via Sign up bonuses and it has arguably the best transfer partners for redemption with a redemption of last resort at no worse than 1.5X. Citi is weak because it is hard to earn a lot of points via Sign up bonuses and their transfer partners are weak relative to Chase and AMEX. Wells Fargo is the worst of the top card issuers.

    • @TheCreditFrog
      @TheCreditFrog День тому

      I think that's consistent with what I recommended haha! But yes, I get what you're saying. Your suggested questions are very well thought out, and would get right to the point of the what we all want to know, but for the live, I do need to answer the questions that were asked to me. In any case, I agree that Chase can get you some insane value since welcome offers (especially elevated ones) are easily obtainable with the redemption floor of 1.5X. I also think your insights on Citi is spot on. Very insightful response and well said! I'm not sure why WF is the worst other than their transfer partners are borderline terrible, but the earnings are there and they do have welcome offers. We just need to watch them closely since they're in the building phase and their portfolio is so much better than it used to be compared to even just 2 years ago!

    How does anyone compete with Citi in a no SUB world? A Prestige + Double Cash + army of Custom Cash cards. Just $95/yr and possibly -$5 if you can utilize the hotel reservation benefit.

    • @TheCreditFrog
      @TheCreditFrog День тому

      I think WF competes (they don't have groceries, but other than that, lots of coverage of different categories), but Citi's transfer partners are way better. Yeah, the army of Citi CCs would really change the game, but it's harder/slower to get if you're not working with a P2. That Strata Premier card is also a great card that has a lot of great multipliers and can also unlock transfer partners, which is more than what I can say about the Chase Sapphire Preferred.

    • @TheCreditFrog
      @TheCreditFrog День тому

      No problem Henry - next time! As for those two cards, the Hilton Aspire is the better card since it's FNC comes right away and is uncapped. It's got more statement credits, which sucks, but since it has a lower AF at $550, it's got a better value proposition than the Bonvoy Brilliant. Hilton Diamond is better the Marriott Platinum. But if you like Marriott, the Brilliant is definitely the card to get an an 85k FNC is nice to have, but you gotta wait a year for it!

    I think people truly do follow a hive mind. WF and C1 are the best ecosystems for everyday spend. You could even do the WF quadfecta and still come up on top. The autograph journey for 5x on hotels 4x on airfare 3x all other travel. The autograph for 3x on dining, phone plans, and gas. Attune for 4x back on entertainment and a million other categories and 2% back on everything else is an amazing setup. Even with no dedicated grocery category it’s still great. They’re already better and cheaper than Chase with an effective AF $45 and covers wayyy more spend. If they added groceries they’d have the best ecosystem hands down. Let them add a card that gives at least 10 lounge visits too and oh boy.

    • @TheCreditFrog
      @TheCreditFrog День тому

      Yeah, I'm really impressed with the coverage on the Wells Fargo setup tbh. I know they've had their issues in the past, but they're making great strides in their credit card lineup. Over 13 (at least on a single bureau) is pretty high. Citi tends to be more inquiry sensitive so I can see that happening for sure.

    How the hell is everyone not voting for Wells Fargo? This is a multiplier competition, not a SUB, travel partners, or ethics competition 😂

      Look up "Wells Fargo Scandal" and just pick whatever year you want that pops up. People are wary of them. My aunt was a victim of the fraudulent account scandal of 2016 (have to specify the year for that one, it happened twice).

    single bank for me would be Capital One duo = Spark miles for business + Savor One for lounge, I would add AMEX Platinum C1 VX is still weak compared to the network of lounges by AMEX vs C1 PP network

    • @TheCreditFrog
      @TheCreditFrog День тому

      It's true, but I guess it would also depend on where you're based/where you fly out of. If you're in DEN, DFW, and IAD, the C1VX would be a perfect fit in that Capital One Duo!

      VX has all the Priority Pass that Sapphire does, plus Plaza Premium and is opening their own. Pretty equal to Chase

    Stan, I have an upgrade offer on my Amex Gold Card to upgrade to the Platinum Card (125K for $6k spend in 6 months). I think the offer is great and worth it for the points alone (annual fee would be around the $350 mark, due to annual fee refund). I would like to hear your thoughts on this? I have spend to cover the SUB, I just would like to make sure this is worth it for me (and I know YMMV) but would like to hear your thoughts! Thanks.

    • @TheCreditFrog
      @TheCreditFrog День тому

      This sounds like a great offer! Especially when you take into consideration the annual fee after considering the prorated refund! I would only mention that the all-time offer right now on the Platinum is 175k MRs for $8k spend in 6 months. The Gold upgrade offer is about 21 points per dollar spent with the new Platinum offer is about 22 points per dollar spent, so it's more or less a wash in terms of which offer is better. I think it would come down to how much money you can spend with the MSR and how many MR points you want with the bonus. The benefit of doing the upgrade is that there is no new account on your credit report, which could be helpful for your credit score and your 5/24 status depending on when you first got the Gold card. No right answer here - just your call!

      @@TheCreditFrog Thank you for breaking that down, I really appreciated that. I just realized that I would loose out on the (once in a lifetime) language offers if I choose to go with the "upgrade" offer. I spoke with a rep and they mentioned that sometimes the offers do not state the (once in a lifetime) language, so I guess its a toss. Still really interesting!

    • @TheCreditFrog
      @TheCreditFrog День тому

      @@scarpelliproductions No problem! Yeah, if that means a lot to you. You can first get the Platinum card and then wait on the welcome offer - or if you can meet both spend requirements, you can try to double-dip (apply for Platinum, then immediately accept upgrade offer right afterwards) but the combined MSR for both offers is a tall ask for sure.
